We go back some 100 years. First developed in Bologna, our Group now operates on the international market.

  • 1888

    The first “Grande Esposizione Emiliana” held in the park of Giardini Margherita. It introduced electric lighting to Bologna and saw the building of a rack railway up to San Michele in Bosco, the other exhibition location on a nearby hill.
  • 1901

    The first Bologna Trade Show held on the premises of the Eden Kursaal.
  • 1927

    The beginning of regular trade fairs and the building of the modern Littoriale venue.
  • 1948

    The first Footwear Exhibition held at Palazzo Re Enzo.
  • The 1950s

    The Montagnola park becomes Bologna’s trade fair venue, and a call for tenders is issued for the building of a new exhibition centre.
  • 1964

    8 May: laying of the foundation stone of the halls designed by Leonardo Benevolo, Tommaso Giuralongo and Carlo Melograni.
  • 1965

    Inauguration by Board Chairman Aldo Moro.
  • 1986-90

    Establishment of the Bologna, Modena and Ferrara regional trade fair system.
  • 2001

    The Fairsystem joint venture signed, marking the Group’s international consolidation.
  • 2005

    With GiPlanet, the Group becomes Italy's leading exhibit design and installation company.
  • 2018

    The Group strengthens its presence on international markets with the acquisition of Health and Beauty and the renovation of the Bologna Exhibition Centre Halls 29 and 30.
